Hal. 2, 35; Sir 23:2; Jos., Ant. 15, 48 παρῆκεν τὴν ἁμαρτίαν.) διὰ τὴν π. τῶν προγεγονότων ἁμαρτημάτων Ro 3:25.—The verb is also used of ‘remitting’ debts and other obligations (Phalaris, Ep. 81, 1 χρημάτων; SIG 742, 33; 39; OGI 669, 50.—JCreed, JTS 41, ’40, 28–30; SLyonnet, Biblica 38, ’57, 35–61), but in Ro 3:25 Paul appears to argue that God’s apparent winking at sin puts God’s own uprightness at risk (cp.
